The famous pop star Taylor Swift donates $113,000 to a non-profit organisation in Tennessee that fights against anti-LGBT laws.
Taylor Swift has been an active ally of LGBTQ community though she is not a part of it. And, the amount number is not very surprising as Taylor has a love for number 13.
In the context of donating such a huge amount, she said that she made this donation to the Tennessee equality project because she loves their work. Also, she was overwhelmed to know that this non profit organisation is giving a place to worship to LGBTQ people.
Tennessee which is a landlocked state in the U.S. south, is known for country music. But, the state has turned into the “State of Hate” because of the several bills passed against the LGBTQ community.
The Tennessee equality project has currently assemble 100 religious leaders to abolish the six anti-LGBTQ bills. The nickname of the bills is “Slate of Hate.” Bills in the “Slate of Hate” includes of two majorly discriminating and hateful bills. One of them being protection of private adoption agencies that discriminates on the basis of religion. Another one being requirement of an Attorney General for the defense of schools which engage in anti-transgender bathroom discrimination.
This step was taken by Taylor Swift to gather attention of her fans towards what is happening in the state legislature. Taylor has spent most of her life in Tennessee as it has been a very important part of her career.
Taylor has also been vocal about her stand for LGBTQ community. She also dedicated her song “Delicate” to the LGBTQ Community during one of her shows.
