Slowly, the world has been recognizing the rights of gay men and women, finally giving famous gay couples a chance to step out of the shadows. Across the world, the LGBTQ community has been fighting a long battle against legal laws and rules which have been obstacles to same-sex couples who want to be together. Here is a list of famous couples that have won the hearts of the people around the world due to their courage and have shown the world that love knows no bounds.
Ricky Martin and Jwan Yosef
The couple, who have 9-year-old twin sons named Matteo and Valentino. They started dating in 2016 and became engaged by November that year.
The singer announced his engagement to the artist during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in November 2016. “I got on my knees and I took out the little metal box,” he told the host about the moment he proposed. He then said, “I just had it in a little velvet pouch and instead of saying, ‘Will you marry me?’ I said, ‘I got you something!'”
RuPaul Charles & Georges LeBar
RuPaul has never been one to be open about his love life. But after 23 years of dating his boyfriend Georges LeBar, he announced on Hollywood Today Live that they had married. “He’s a great guy, but he doesn’t care about show business at all,” he said, explaining why the two keep their relationship relatively private.
The pair met at now-closed New York City club Limelight in 1994 on LeBar’s birthday. And have been together ever since. In 2013 special of “Oprah: Where Are They Now?,” RuPaul spoke about his relationship with LeBar. “He is devoted to me, I am devoted to him,” he said. “And that’s the end of the story.”
Elton John & David Furnish
John met Furnish, 15 years his junior, in October 1993. John was sober for three years following more than a decade of substance abuse. The singer was learning to live life without drugs or alcohol, residing mainly at his home in Atlanta.
That initial attraction was mutual, with Furnish returning to John’s home the very next evening for a more relaxed one-on-one dinner of Chinese takeout.
It was during an at-home dinner party with friends and family in May 2005 that John proposed to Furnish, with the couple entering into a civil partnership on December 21 the same year.
