As we already know traveling is not easy for the LGBTQ+ community. No matter how diverse the thoughts of people become, there is still that portion of the population that has issues with the LGBTQ+ community.
Traveling abroad is often tricky especially when you are gay. Being gay is illegal in some places and you do not want to be forking out a romantic trip where you’ll feel terrified to hold hands.
This winter maybe you can head to some warm sunny places to honeymoon with your gay partner. Try to research places before you head (no matter how spontaneous you want your trip to be). There are WhatsApp groups that also give you some suggestions.
But we have two places that would just be perfect for gay honeymooners to disappear at. We are talking about Thailand. Although same sex marriage is not yet legal in Thailand, think of it as a bold nudge towards growing acceptance of the idea.
But do not be startled, these two places in Thailand will keep you hidden from the evil eyes of society and amidst the acceptance of nature.
Thailand: Khao Sok
Khoa Sok has stunning views, tranquility, and remoteness. It is a relatively undiscovered paradise. And this would be just perfect for your gay getaways.
You can sleep in floating tents or go on day trips. You can visit the Elephant Hills and go on a boat across the lake for an hour to reach the Jurassic Park-esque landscapes of Khoa Sok.
You and your partner can also go kayaking along the emerald water. And if you are quiet enough you can spot sub-species of wild monkeys munching in the surrounding trees.
If you are looking for something unique and spectacular to visit but also want something more original than just a beach holiday, Khoa Sok is the perfect place to be. This is just the right place to get away from civilization and give your partner the “alone time” that they so occasionally crave for.
A place to stay in Khoa Sok
Try to book a stay at Elephant Hills. The camp provides a days trip to Khoa Sok lake. Moreover, it includes all transfers and is a super popular place for honeymooners.
the staff is incredibly friendly and is knowledgeable. As they are all locals they provide a delicious and vast buffet for every meal. The place also has entertainment in the evenings.
The camp has also won many sustainable awards and encourages people to respect the jungle environment.
You can feel at home in the jungle. Especially when you have a luxurious stay and eco-friendly tent accommodation. And if you’re lucky you can even spot some shooting stars from the campsite.
You can also combine your stay at Koha Sok with a day trip to their main campsite to their elephant sanctuary. This sanctuary is a place where they rescue mistreated elephants and it is home to females only. They pride themselves on being an ethical rescue mission.
Thailand: Koh Yao Noi
If beaches are your thing, Koh Yao Noi could be the ideal honeymoon getaway for you and your partner.
Thailand is famous for its beaches but most are overcrowded or overused and over Instagrammed. But there is one such beach that is quiet, private and seclude than the rest. It is Koh Yao Noi.
Koh Yao Noi is an island that remains relatively undiscovered and has luxury hotels that will not want you to go back to the mainland.
This one is ideal for honeymooners as it is really remote. However, there are plenty of opportunities to do island hopping via day boat trips.
This island is far from tourists as it is away from a party island. As most of the locals are Muslims there not many bars in the area. However, there are luxury accommodations, great Thai food and there is also a gay-friendly bar called Charlie Bar.
You can also go kayaking and get Thai massages or just end up relaxing on the beached.
A place to stay
An ideal hotel for gay couples is Cape Kudu Hotel.
The hotel has a relaxing pool that overlooks the shore and their rotis at the breakfast buffet are not to be missed. You can also indulge in cocktails from the Long Island bar while playing pool.
Moreover, the hotel offers different activities each day. They range from eco-friendly beach clean-ups to giant Jenga where you can win some free massages and day trips from the hotel.
A relaxing beach, good food, fun activities and chances to win free massages, Koh Yao Noi makes for the perfect honeymoon destination for any gay couple.
