Imagine setting off on a voyage so unique that it takes you to the edge of the world, where you can plant the rainbow flag in one of the most remote places on Earth. This February, that dream will become a reality as the first-ever LGBTIQA+ Pride cruise sets sail to Antarctica.
Organised by Australian travel pros Planetdwellers in collaboration with Pride Tours Chile, this special adventure will offer an exclusive experience for around 100 passengers. Starting February 6, 2025, the expedition ship Greg Mortimer will depart from Ushuaia, Argentina, and navigate the Drake Passage to reach the stunning Antarctic Peninsula.
An Unforgettable Arctic Expedition
During this nine-day journey, guests will explore icy coastlines and discover hidden bays. With daily excursions providing opportunities to see sea birds, penguins, seals, and whales.
The Greg Mortimer is designed for comfort and exploration, featuring numerous observation areas, a gym, sauna, whirlpool spas, and a mud room. With 76 cabins and suites—most with balconies—passengers will enjoy beautiful views and modern amenities. Each cabin includes flat-screen TVs, mini-bars, and plenty of space for personal belongings.
Pride on the Ice: An Exclusive Celebration
Evenings on the Greg Mortimer will feature specially-curated Pride events, ensuring a festive atmosphere throughout the journey. A key highlight will be the opportunity to plant the rainbow Pride flag on the icy expanse of Antarctica. Creating a memorable and significant moment for all involved.
The trip concludes with an included one-way charter flight from King George Island. Off the Antarctic coast, to Punta Arenas, Chile, offering even more spectacular views.
This cruise builds on a tradition of LGBTIQA+ milestones in Antarctica. Including the 2018 Pride event at the US research McMurdo Station. And Erin Parisi’s trans Pride flag planting on Antarctica’s highest peak in 2022. In 2016, a group of gay activists even declared Antarctica the world’s first LGBT-friendly continent.
With this unique cruise, you’ll not only experience the awe-inspiring beauty of Antarctica but also leave a lasting mark of inclusivity. And pride in one of the most remote places on Earth.
